about diaphanition

diaphanition comes from a passion for film, literature and philosophy, as they relate to an increasingly complicated and damaged world. The word diaphanous means light, thin, translucent and delicate; the word cognition mean the process of knowing, usually relating to awareness, perception, judgement and reasoning. The neologism diaphanition implies a sort of delicate thinness to our perceptions and knowledge about the world, a translucence to thought which ultimately calls us to be more aware of our own thinking, and work to grow as thinkers, viewers and communicators. Look to this blog for posts about reading films and novels; look to this blog for posts about viewership and learning as we progress into an increasingly unstable world.

zach began writing reviews on Letterboxd, a cinema social media platform and review service. As time wore, on his reviews increased in size, until he felt like it would be better store them in a more specific place. Thus, he began this blog as a place to expand his writing. He enjoys reading, watching films and thinking about various things.
